Unfortunately, Mary was too busy saving sharks to join me at Beqa Adventure Divers in Fiji but we hope to go next year. We dove there on our honeymoon in 2007.
This 10 day trip gave me the opportunity to get to know Mike Neumann better and learn more from him about sharks and shark conservation.
I was fortunate to be able to spend more time above and below with Ron and Valerie Taylor.
I also got to meet and dive with Dr.James O’Brien from NSW, Australia.
I consider this dive and what they have done here with the Marine Reserve to be the “World’s best shark feed”.
They absolutely have the best. There isn’t even a real second after seeing the way that the “BAD Boys” have nurtured their connection with the sharks and the great work they are doing in the Shark Reef Marine Reserve which they created and protect.

The first dive to is to 30m where the bull sharks and nurse sharks are.
The second level is at 10m where the black tips and white tips, are.
The last level is at 4m and has the white tips and black tips.
The second dive is to 16m where the bull sharks, silver tips, lemons, grey reef sharks and nurse sharks are.
There may be tiger sharks at this depth or deeper but the one called “Scarface” was there the day before I arrived and I did not see her.
If you want to see sharks, this is one of the easiest places as it is land based, 10 minutes to the dive site on their 2 fast and stable boats and possibly 8 species of sharks on 1 dive.
The staff had a great celebration while I was there to celebrate their 6th anniversary, as well as the annual return of Ron & Valerie who have helped and supported them since the beginning and for Mike’s birthday.
There was great speeches, great food and of course the kava.
