Doug has lived in Nevada City since 1975, but spends much of his time in Portland. While here, his camera is always busy, following the tourist’s favorite destinations such as Powell’s Books, the Japanese Garden and Saturday Market. He also loves exploring the day to day lives of Portlanders: At their favorite breakfast cafe, riding bicycles, walking in the rain and peeking into their favorite stores.

Doug is an award-winning photographer, specializing in Western landscapes. In this show he adds urban landscapes and cityscapes, which clearly show his love of Portland. His interest in photography dates back to the early 1950s when he discovered his father’s Leica camera.

In the past decade, Doug has traveled solo over 70,000 miles on his motorcycle throughout the western states, and many more miles with his wife Karen in their RV. On his travels, he sends “postcards” by email to friends. These are his postcards from Portland.
