Domestic and Wild
Animal motifs are fairly common on pysanky, especially those from the Carpathian regions. These symbols had a double function: to protect the pictured animal (if domestic), and to endow upon us the animals' best characteristics.
One of the most commonly found symbols is that of the stag or deer.
