St. Dominic Third Grade

3rd grade with Mrs. Robinson is a very exciting year!!!

Our reading comprehension this year goes from literal to inferential, and this is the age that children begin to self-correct their own errors when reading aloud.  One goal this year is to learn to read with a rhythm that sounds like natural speech.

In math, we learn our multiplication and division facts, and apply them in word problems.  Our word problems include 2-step solutions; our understanding of numbers takes us to the millions using place value.  We explore algebra, geometry, fractions, and decimals.

This year you understand the importance of math, science, and social studies while being able to apply it to the “real” world. Some of your goals include increased responsibility and independence, effective organization, and development of study skills.

You are asked to complete various tasks while working independently and in cooperative groups.

Expect to learn, and you will!! Remember to prepare now to be successful in the future!!

Hard work + A great attitude=SUCCESS

Every day is a new adventure!
