Race For The Cure
Saturday, May 17, 2008
Today we participated in the annual Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure (if you’re not familiar with it, it is to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness). It was so much fun and such a wonderful experience. It was a record year in Columbus... 40,000 people! There were people of all ages, including lots of little ones. We walked next to a 2 month old little boy... he was so tiny! After we crossed the finish line, we stood and watched many of the breast cancer survivors walk under the special pink canopy as they shouted out “5 years”...”10 years”...”37 years”.
Edison had the hard job... and promptly fell asleep as soon as we finished. And as our sign says, we proudly walked in celebration for my dear sister-in-law, Angie, who will soon be shouting out “1 year”! We worship a gracious God who is continuing to give her body the strength to fight this breast cancer. I hope that today will start a tradition for our family. Will you join us next year?
