In case you don’t know, Guild Wars is an MMORPG, (which stands for “Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Game”). It is different from most games of this type in that it does not require a monthly fee to play. You buy the game and play with no further cost to you.

The game takes place in the world of Tyria, in which you can create up to four characters from 6 different professions. In April a new “chapter” called “Factions” which takes place in an entirely new world, called Cantha, was added. Factions can be purchased as a standalone game or can be combined with Prophecies to give you 6 characters with the choice of 8 professions, adding Ritualist and Assassin. If you combine your accounts, characters created in either of the worlds can in time visit the other world.

A new campaign has been added called “Nightfall”. It has very nice graphics and several new features, including two more new professions: Paragon and Dervish. Check it out on the official Guild Wars website at http://www.guildwars.com/

Another new expansion is Eye of the North (EotN) or Guild Wars Eye of the North (GW:EN). Here is a description of EotN taken from GuildWars.com:
