Since 2006 All Saints has supported the work of Life Challenge, an organization which works with the people in areas near Juarez, Mexico. The area, situated on desert land, is not well-known and so, is basically overlooked by many relief agencies.
In Summer 2006, four All Saints’ youth and two adults traveled to Juarez, staying with Pastor Joel in his community, Felipe Angeles, and working hands-on helping to build homes and an Athletic Center in a nearby community, Chavira. Through this work of love and charity, our youth learned a great deal about the call of Christians to love their neighbors as themselves. In Summer 2007, our mission expanded beyond All Saints, growing to fourteen youth and four adult leaders traveling once again to help in the Juarez area.
In October 2007, Pastor Joel and David visited us here in Peterborough. At our Sunday Services, we were blessed to hear Pastor Joel speak of his horribly abused youth, the resultant conflicts, his struggle with drugs, and his miraculous recovery and subsequent mission to help as many as he can of the abused or abandoned in his community.
After the Service, Pastor Joel and David delivered a multi-media presentation about what they are doing and some of their larger plans for the future. We at All Saints wish to continue our support for the Chavira and Felipe Angeles Communities, for the mission of Pastor Joel, and for our youth mission there, which helps there and helps our youth grow in love and charity with their neighbors.
