Welcome to Germany
We are proud to say we are Americans. Germany was thrilled with the election results as was most of Europe. The impact of American decisions on the rest of the world is so significant. On election night Germany celebrated in the streets all night and continued talking about Barack for days to follow. America has redeemed herself once again. Gary and I were invited to a consolate’s party at the Amerika Haus. It was a night we will always remember. Being abroad during such a historical time was truly an experience of a lifetime. We often look at each other in awe. Sometimes the awe is in total amazement and other times in a reality check that yes, personal and professional struggles still present themselves no matter where we are on the planet. Elizabeth Kubler Ross profoundly wrote; “It’s only when we truly know we have a limited time on earth - and we have no way of knowing when our time is up - that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had.“ Being away from the familiar life in the US has prompted us to live our daiiy lives a bit on the edge. We are committed to providing our students, community and each other our personal best. Even though at the end of some days we feel we came up short, we know our intentions never waiver. We are so honored to be challenged by the abundance of cultural differences. We hope you enjoy viewing a window of our second year in Germany. Guten Tag!
