If you use Verizon, this is the easiest way.   Check your voice mails, listen to the message you want to send, and press 0.  Then press 6, which lets you “send a copy to someone else with your remark.”  Record a little explanation of what the message means to you, and send it to this phone number: 703-994-2496.

For this you need a phone recorder and a tape recorder.   If you don’t have a phone recorder, you can get one here for about $30. If you’re using a minidisc as your tape recorder, make sure to plug the phone recorder into your minidisc's LINE-IN input.   Next turn the recording into a .wav file.  You can do that for free by downloading a sound editor called Audacity here. Then send us the file through You Send It (the file will be too large to send otherwise.) Mp3s are great too, but .wavs are better.
This means giving us your voicemail password and letting us access your voicemail  box ourselves.  Just let us know which message you’d like us to use and we’ll record it with our equipment.

If you know of any other ways to record messages off your phone, please let us know!!

After you send along your message, be sure to send us an email with your phone number in it.  Then we’ll call you to record a short explanation of what your message means to you.  The little story about why you kept the voicemail is the best part!
