Just a few miscellaneous things...

Congratulations to Dan and Angie Mahrt.  They were married on Saturday in a beautiful wedding.  Dan is a longtime friend of Scott’s from elementary school.  Scott had a great time at the wedding catching up with a couple of old friends he had lost touch with over the years.

We have a rental opening up on February 1st, so the past week I’ve been posting ads, scheduling showings, and screening tenants.  Fun stuff!  Ha!  Fortunately the overall condition of the townhome is good, but it’s filthy, making it difficult to show.

Bedtime difficulties.  This past week has been horrible for Tori at bedtime.  She used to just lay down and go to sleep, now she lays down for a second then starts crying and asking for milk, or wanting to watch Dora, or just wanting to get up.  I’ve given into letting her go to bed with a sippy cup of water, but usually just make her cry it out until she falls asleep...usually ~15 minutes.  But last night she woke up around midnight and wouldn’t go back to sleep.  I let her lay there and cry after trying to comfort her, but Scott got tired of the crying and went and got her and put her into bed with us.  UGH!!!   I don’t want to start that habit.  I’m hoping that now that the holidays are over Tori can get back into her routine and our bedtime troubles will end.

The Holidays.  Way too much this year!  I miss the days when I was a kid and we went to my dad’s side of the family on Christmas Eve, and my mom’s side of the family on Christmas Day.  That was it.  Now it’s just go go go.  I think if Scott had his way, we’d skip the hustle and bustle and just take a family vacation over Christmas.  After this year I’m tempted to agree with him.  Next year we need to do a better job of combining celebrations.

Our January calendar has filled up fast.  Scott has a couple of weekend fishing trips planned, lasik eye surgery, a couple of side jobs in the works, and we have an adult weekend planned up at Gull Lake with 5 other couples.  Toss in a couple of work functions, a couple of b-day parties, a hockey game, tax and rental prep, and the month should fly by.
