Ethel was way ahead of her time and she was right on the money. You can get all the training in the world, but if you don’t get out there and let agents and casting directors and producers and directors know you’re there, you’ll be performing monologues for an audience of one.
It is up to you to take control of your acting career and act as your own PR agent. You are your most valuable commodity and you have to market yourself as if you are the best product out there (which of course you are).
So how do you make people take notice? Well, you could post your picture on a neon billboard in Times Square, but we have a better (and slightly cheaper) idea. Build a website.
