Amethyst & Steel: The SSPH Theme (Vocal) 1:31
Back in the winter of 2005, I had the opportunity to play the voice of the doctor on a Halo/Sims 2 hybrid machinima series called Silver Stars/Purple Hearts (aka SSPH).
SSPH was a spin-off of the increasingly serious series "SvF" and explored the back stories and further exploits of a team of female purple-clad Spartans. It specifically looked at how four women with extremely different backgrounds got drafted or persuaded to sign up for the super soldier (Spartan) program.
I offered to write soundtrack music for the series, and the first thing I wrote was a song about the horror of the experimental Spartan program (always a favorite subject of mine) and the sisterhood of the purple Spartans. I called the song "Amethyst and Steel".
It was also the first orchestral song I ever wrote and arranged and it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. There's a gorgeous instrumental version (also previously unreleased) that was meant for the opening credits I’ve posted HERE. It features Lauren on the oboe (which is why it is gorgeous) and it makes me tear up when I listen to it now.
I've finally gotten permission from 7Pandas to release these tracks. So here they are.
