Bryon employs realist, impressionist and expressionist techniques in his art. Skilled in pencil, charcoal, pastel, oil pastels and oil painting, Bryon has an active respect and conscious practice of the importance of composition, line, perspective and contrast. He is a committed colorist. In his art, Bryon actively pursues themes which include historical and modern urbanscapes, patriotic scenes and flags, vanishing rural and small town Americana, US eastern and western landscapes, still life, historical figures, and portraits of friends, family, and personal heroes. His principal influences are French and American Impressionism/Expressionism movements e.g., Monet, Sisley, Van Gogh, Childe Hassam, Theodore Robinson, the Indiana/Whitewater "School", American Western artists, 20th century California expressionists, and American illustrator/artists Howard Pyle, NC Wyeth, and Alberto Vargas.
