Click HERE for a promotional LIFE School video by Sydney Arkin - Class of 2006 General Information: The L.I.F.E. school emphasizes learning through active experience inside and outside the classroom; hence the acronym, Learning Independently From Experience. The biggest part of L.I.F.E. is the chance to learn by doing. As a member of L.I.F.E. one is exposed to extraordinary opportunities for more hands-on learning. At L.I.F.E. we take community very seriously and more tightly knit relationships between students and teachers aides in providing learning that appeals to the student as an individual. There are about fifty students in the program and they all learn to share ideas and respect to create an extremely learning friendly environment. Certain classes are not offered in the L.I.F.E. school and would need to be taken on the main campus, those classes are: Lifetime Skills, Health and Phys. Ed., Art, Music, Theater, Business, Drivers Ed., AP courses, and any languages other than Italian, etc. Schedules in the L.I.F.E. school are slightly different from the main campus. Most classes are double blocked so only two academics are taken per semester allowing for a stronger focus in these classes. A junior’s Schedule might look like this: ABC: Community/Advisory DEF/HIJ: Electives on the main campus or one semester of Italian KLM/NOP: English 11 or Math 11 QRS: Lunch or elective TUV/WXY: American History or environmental science. A senior’s schedule might look like this: ABC: Community/Advisory DEF: Writing in the fall or Italian in the spring HIJ/KLM: SUPA Forensics in the fall and/or Intro.
