Learning Independently From Experience
The L.I.F.E. School, a lab school on the campus of Horace Greeley, offers juniors and seniors an innovative and rigorous learning experience.  L.I.F.E. builds a responsive partnership among the school, the family, and the student, by focusing on individual enthusiasms, engaged exploration, and thoughtful questioning. Our goal is to kindle wonderment and a lifelong passion for learning in all its forms, in an atmosphere of respect, cooperation, and community.
We believe that all students at the LIFE School have a right to be successful. This success is dependent upon a sense of community that will foster learning experiences rich in social, emotional, and intellectual exploration. The school responds to the needs of the individual and the community at large. A manageable number of academics allows depth as well as connection to student interests, and L.I.F.E extends into the real world by offering internships and off-site academics. The learning environment is one of respect, cooperation, and partnership among the staff, students, and their families.  It is small enough for the teachers and the students to know each other well, to recognize one another’s strengths and needs and to respond to those needs.    The school’s democratic structure encourages individual responsibility and cooperation rather than competition. Personal fulfillment, self-knowledge, and direction for the future emerge from the L.I.F.E experience.
In keeping with this mission, students develop a digital portfolio which represents their journey as learners in L.I.F.E.   Click "Student Portfolios" above for the portfolio design framework and for students' portfolios.
