When the renowned sculptor, John Sherrill Houser, began creating a monument to the Spanish conquistador Juan de Oñate for the city of El Paso, it was supposed to be a little larger than life size. But he secretly harbored a dream: to build the largest bronze equestrian statue ever created in human history.
