Slovak Keyboard for MacOS
Slovak Keyboard for MacOS
This keyboard will work with Mac OS X version 10.2 and later.
• To download the keyboard file, click here: US-Slovak.keylayout
The downloaded file is named US-Slovak.keylayout.
• Move this file to the Library/Keyboard Layouts folder on your hard drive.
•Restart your computer. (This is required to make the new keyboard visible in your System Preferences.)
•Open the System Preferences / International pane and click on the Input Menu tab.
•Scan down the list to the US-Slovak item and checkmark the box next to it. You might also want to check “Keyboard Viewer” near the top of the list. At the bottom of the same window, make sure “Show input menu in menu bar” is checked. Close the window.
•You will now see an icon in the menu bar just to the left of the day and time. It will probably look like a small flag to show the keyboard you are currently using. You can select this icon to get a menu of all available keyboards (based on the keyboards you selected in the previous step). The US-Slovak keyboard should appear as a choice in this menu. Select it and you are ready to begin typing Slovak characters as described here.
• If you checked “Keyboard Viewer” in the Preferences, you will also have a choice of “Show Keyboard Viewer”. The Keyboard Viewer is a small window that will show you what characters are available to be typed, based on the keyboard that is currently selected and what modifier keys (Shift, Option, etc.) are currently pressed. You can type characters directly or can click on the Keyboard Viewer to type them.
This keyboard was developed with the assistance of Ukelele, the Mac OS X Keyboard Layout Editor, available from SIL International.
