It´s hard to know where to begin with this update...I didn´t quite intend to take as long an “intermission” as I did, and will will endeavor to record the goings on of the past few weeks. :)
The weather has gotten progressively colder, and the leaves have really started changing. Samuel has been enjoying throwing leaves, learning to rake, and running around playing soccer. We´ve also spent a lot of time in the woods, searching for sticks, and playing hide and seek behind trees. It´s been wonderful! He also has grow a few inches over the past month and a half, and has TONS of energy.
Leah has gained about 3 times her birth-weight. She has beautiful blue eyes and sleeps through the night, and the better part of the afternoon. She loves being held, and Samuel is quite taken with her.
I´ve also been doing a lot of driving: running errands to the various grocery stores, baby stores, and dry cleaning places near the house. It´s been interesting learning all the traffic rules and I think i´m finally getting the hang of it. :) I havn´t driven on the Autobahn yet, and am working my way up to that point.
Since I havn´t updated in over a month, he´s an abbreviated list of things I´ve been up to over the past few weeks...I´ll try to do better about updating more regularly now! :)
- Met 2 girls from this year´s JYM group: Shelley and Lenore! We´ve gotten really close and have done a lot together over the past few weeks! Pics to be added soon!
- Had a bit of a vacation from September 27th- Oct. 2. Traveled with Shelley to Oberammergau (where they do the Passion Play every 10 years) and had a wonderful time exploring the town.
-Had a wonderful time visiting Brian for about 15 hours in London! :) It was a very short visit, but it was wonderful to see each other again. Had an exciting time trying to find each other in the hotel, and got a bit lost trying to find a park. It made for a wonderful adventure, and we had a great time together!! :)
-Went to a state-owned horse farm with Silke and Samuel. All the police horses in Bavaria are bought from this horse farm, and there are probably more than 75 horses there. It was a beautiful day, wonderful to see the fall colors on the drive down there.
-Over the past month I´ve seen about 3 movies- Saw the Devil Wears Prada in the cinema again! :) Also saw Step Up with Lenore and Shelley, and a fun french movie with Shelley a few weeks ago.
-Finished Trollope´s Barchester Towers, read The Devil Wears Prada, and am halfway through Charles Dicken´s David Copperfield. Next on the list is Wuthering Heights, and then hopefully finishing the rest of Trollope´s Barchester Chronicles. I´m so enjoying doing some more reading!
-Went to Rotenburg ob der Tauber with Lenore and Shelley last 2 weekends ago. It took a little longer to get there than we were expecting, but had a lovely time wandering around the city, walking along the wall, and looking at the enormous Christmas ornament store!
-Tried out the first rehersal of the University Choir...it was interesting, and am going to go back again tomorrow! :)
- Carved 2 pumpkins with Samuel and baked the pumpkin seeds! The whole family has enjoyed lighting candles in the pumpkins each evening and watching them glow. :)
-Discovered “my” cafe...a British restaurant in Munich called Victorian House. The atmosphere is wonderful, cake is very good, and they have about 25 varieties of tea! I´m going to enjoy going back there for some tea, reading, and doing some journaling.
-Starting knitting/crocheting again :)
-Discovered a store that sells Yorkshire Gold tea, as well as an “American grocery” which, although a bit expensive, carries Libby´s Pumpkin mix. I´m planning to make a pumpkin pie around Thanksgiving time! :)
-Will work on translating 2 news stories a week into german, and doing some more writing as well. It would be fun to have something good enough to publish in the Monitor by the end of the year!
I think that´s about it for now...It´s been a busy month, and I´m looking forward to the next few weeks! :) I promise to do a better job of updating. More recipes, pictures, and journal entries to be added soon!
