Lately I´ve been thinking about doing some more writing. For fun, I´ve decided to write another ode...only this time, it will be about my kitchen here in Munich. This ode was inspired by both my last poem, as well as the desire to do some more writing. It will be posted here as soon as it´s complete.
(and just for fun, here is the ode from my last year in Munich, inspired by a cheap slovakian fan that I purchased at a grocery store...)
Ode to Sketchy slovakian fan
Thou wafting pilgrim of foreign extraction,
thou bartered commodity of decumbent fare,
to emporiums far and wide thou art ferried
and by the parch´ed proletariat art procured.
Thou meager spinner, unpretentious contrivance
of colours gray and white
whose screws in construction did so resist
thou purefiest the air wherein thou...
thou around the room oscillates.
With thy sweet, circulating breath
which is not thine own, but dearly borrowed
thou spreadest the air forth like wand´ring pollen
and maketh the room sweet with breezes.
The abode, which before thy artful help
a muggy hell, a sweltering sauna had become.
thou, with thy presence, calmed and cooled
and milder and more temperate made.
Oh thou, my comfortor and calming companion
Thou weret not made for eternal glories-
but rather thou art a transient mistress
which consoleth only to expire.
Thou fragile form of meretricious material
which at thy nativity did nearly fracture,
thou art ever engraved into my memory
and I shall think on thee forevermore.
