Lesley O’Neill Pilates
My passion for Pilates has developed from a life long interest in exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle.  Over the years I have experimented with various exercise regimes in my quest to find the ultimate method that could be easily incorporated into my busy life, which is now as a working mother.

Pilates for me is the definitive exercise technique.  It strengthens, tones and lengthens the body whilst concentrating and challenging the mind.  It is a truly holistic approach to exercise leaving one feeling exhilarated and focused.  It can be adapted to suit individual requirements, working the deep core muscles to correct posture, flatten the tummy, strengthen the back, and help recovery after an injury or to re-balance the body after childbirth.

Pilates offers a relaxed approach to exercise and well being, promoting correct muscle recruitment in order to move and exercise without strain or injury, it really works and without the sweat.  The joy of Pilates is that you can use it any time, any place anywhere!

Lynne Robinson and Gordon Thomson set up the Body Control Pilates Association in 1996.

It is a remarkably effective and medically approved method of exercise at the centre of which is an ‘awareness of your own body’. Each exercise is built around the eight basic principles of Pilates:

Relaxation, Breathing, Concentration, Flowing Movements, Alignment, Co-ordination, Centring and Stamina.
