Hope 4 Kids - Services

Adoption Home Studies
A home study is a state requirement for any person who wants to adopt. Hope 4 Kids prides ourselves in our ability to professionally and expediently complete home studies faster than most agencies. We don’t want to hold up your process in getting on your way to adopting!

Home Studies involve getting fingerprinted, a physical with a TB test, first aid & CPR, and some additional paperwork that a qualified social worker will assist you with. You will be provided with training and support throughout your journey.

Our costs are very reasonable and we have professional staff to assist you with this process.

Birthparent Relinquishment and Counseling
Birth mothers who wish to give their child up for adoption often have a desire and dream to give their child a better life. If they choose adoption, we provide them with counseling and assist them in the birth parent relinquishment process. This process usually involves discussing and reviewing the emotional and practical components of adoption. Even though adoption can be a dream fulfilled for birthparents to find those adopted parents who can give a wonderful and loving home for their child, it also fulfills the dream of the adoptive parent who has longed for that little boy or girl of their own.

Post Placement Services
After relinquishment papers have been signed, approximately four post placement visits need to occur with the family. This is where a social worker comes in to visit the family and the baby to assess and assist you until their adoption is completed. Families cannot apply to adopt in California until the child has been placed in your home for six months.

Some families who have adopted in other states but whose residence is in California must complete the number of post placement visits required by the state where the finalization takes place. Therefore, you may need only one post placement visit or you may need five.

ICPC
Interstate compact is the organization (s) that permits a pre-adoptive child to cross state lines. If you go to another state to adopt and will be returning to California, you must get approval from our agency, if it is an agency adoption. You would also need the approval from the state you are leaving. If you are working with the state or county office rather than an agency to do an adoption, you would go through Sacramento to get your approval to return to our state rather than our agency.

If you live in another state and are doing an agency adoption through Hope 4 Kids in California, we would approve you to leave the state. But we also need to get the approval of your home state in order for you to cross over your state lines. For instance, if you live in Texas but are doing a birth parent relinquishment in California, you would need to get approval from both Texas and California in order to return home.

Finalization
After the child has been placed in your home for six months (assuming all rights have been terminated for all fathers), you may apply for adoption. Sometimes people opt to use a lawyer to take care of this. If finalizing in California, Hope 4 Kids must provide a finalization report to the court and we must consent and join to this adoption in order for the adoption to be completed. If finalizing in another state, we will assist that state in completing your adoption.

Our costs are very reasonable and we have very professional staff to assist you with this process.
