Finally, the Well
Finally, the Well
The well went in this weekend on my property in southern Colorado.
As they put the drill bit into the ground, the well inspector drives up and says, Did you know your neighbors a couple miles over there are down to 400 ft and are getting one gallon per minute? And there's a dry hole down to 380 feet over there?
Gulp, I said.
At around 50 dollars a foot, you notice things like that.
15 minutes (and 20 feet) later, the well driller called me over to the rig, and shined a mirror down. We had hit the first water at 20 feet. We went 100 feet down, in case there are water table changes, and then we tested the maximum output. Not 1, not 10, not 40, but 55 gallons per minute. The well inspector called someone, and little by little, a bunch of well drillers and neighbors showed up all shaking their heads.... And my driller looked at me and said, you can dowse for me any time. It was something I learned from my dad and grandpa. Who knows how or why it works, but I’m glad it does.
Best of all, though, the water's initial tests show no hardness of water, no abnormal minerals, etc. I get to have the "official" tests done after the pump is installed, but I'm good to go....
Big time thanks go to OG Blouin, of Ojo Springs Drilling and Well Service. If you need a well in the San Luis Valley, Walsenburg, or anywhere near, give him a call at (719) 738-3580. Also thanks to Matt White and his parents for recommending OG.
Now permits for septic, finding a septic system contractor, and finding a concrete and excavation contractor for the foundation....
