Born in 1956 in Paris , the artistic and design career of the French artist, Claude Rogé spans 30 years, beginning as a painter.  Interest and curiosity caused him to explore more finite projects as set development and venue  design, while continuing his personal interest in painting and metal/wood sculpture.  His set designs include work for MTV special events broadcasts, music videos, commercial television and advertising.

The furniture designs of Jean Claude Rogé are based in ‘pragmatic functionalism’.  A mixture of metal and wood provide an interesting contrast in imagery and warmth, often the material inspiring and dictating form.

Rogé describes this as a “mix of noble materials.”  His design concepts represent the artistic realization of creative thought whose origin he describes as the visual representation of a ‘feeling’, related to a particular piece.

Having worked and traveled all over the world and having lived in such diverse places, to include, but not limited to Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Greece, the Dominican Republic, Italy, Martinique, and Guadeloupe,  birthed a style that uniquely Rogé. This is a transcultural influence that transcends cultural boundaries reflecting a more global one world influence.
