How do you create something that is at once real, engrossing, alive, kinetic while being strange, non-linear, metaphoric? These artists have done it. Great sense of timing and humour with moments of deep feeling and poignancy. This is a keeper.
A review by Barry Oreck

Sipapu
Nathan Montgomery of Syzygy Butoh
A solo exploring our ancestral connection to the earth
Sipapu is a Hopi word symbolising the portal through which our ancestors first emerged. It also symbolises the centre or belly-button of the traditional Kiva or home. In this new choreography Nathan opens a pathway to an ancient and austere landscape in which our earliest beginnings are echoed.

Baggage Claim
a new duet by Human Nature’s founders
Delisa Myles & Jayne Lee
HNDT marks its 14th year in 2008. Jayne Lee and Delisa Myles, the founding members, are feeling it is time to touch back to the origins of the group, with dedicating their next piece to the duet collaboration that was the original impetus for the formation of the group. Since 1994 Human Nature has served as a host to at least 30 collaborators in dance, theatre, music, video, photography, lighting and set design. Often in the complication of working with many people Delisa and Jayne have not made time to work exclusively with one another. There is a need to return to the roots of the organisation. Elements of absurdity and humour surrounding the difficulties of navigating the technological world and surviving the complexities of our lives will be dual themes.
