Thank you to everyone for making our first Septemberfest a great success!

On Saturday, September 26th, the DRLT held its first annual Septemberfest. What a beautiful day for this activity-filled event! The day began with a fishing derby at the upper pond at 9:00 (Hurray to the “early risers” who participated!) and was followed by a Wolf Talk (complete with a beautiful wolf) given by Michael Leblanc. Eastern Mountain Sports put on a “Yak Attack!”, bringing a multitude of kayaks of all shapes (and lengths!). Paddlers young and old, experienced and inexperienced, were out on the water all day. Many of our friends and neighbors experienced the trails - as well as the beauty of the upper pond - for the very first time.

Thank you one and all - whether you helped organize the event, helped out that day, came to enjoy the great Dunstable outdoors (as well as wolves, trails, and kayaks!), and/or provided delicious apples, apple cider, and/or coffee to keep our fishermen (and women!) awake. We all had a great time. We love seeing people enjoy the Land Trust lands!

We took a lot of photos! Click here to have a look. If you have any photos to add, by all means e-mail them and we’ll put ‘em up (www.drlt.org)

We are often asked how the Dunstable Rural Land Trust came to be. As with so many rural communities struggling to maintain both character and landscapes, the DRLT was created out of necessity. In 1974, a group of Dunstable residents came together to protect a wildlife- rich 175 acre parcel of land from development. This original group of 40 people has now grown to a membership of over 400 individuals and families who donate the combinations of time, money, and creativity necessary to continue our traditions of preservation, conservation, and education throughout the community of Dunstable and beyond.

We hope you enjoy our attempt at bringing our stories, projects, and appeals to you via our newly revamped website. Interested in exploring some of our beautiful land and local vistas? You, your family - often including the ones with built in fur - are welcome. Visit Our Protected Places to find out more. Our Current Projects link will tell you a bit about what we are working on right now, and has up to date information on projects ongoing or recently completed. News is news, and also comments and opinions (and maybe someday a blog or two!). And, of course, we invite all those who have not yet joined us in something pretty special to become members. So Join Us, and see what we’re all about.
