Paul Haggis, the writer, director and co-producer of the Academy Award winner 'CRASH' executive produced ‘Chasing Mascots’ for the 2006 MAKE IT SHORT MOVIE PROJECT.

Haggis, claims, "I'm happy to be able to lend my support to the 2006 MAKE IT SHORT MOVIE PROJECT. The only way to really learn how to make movies is to make them. If a project like this existed when I was young and interested in learning about film I might not have had to take off south of the border."

The event provides a hands-on introduction to filmmaking covering the basics of acting, direction, cinematography, lighting, production design, sound and editing. Participants - in front and behind the camera - get real film set experience and a credit on a short before taking in the WORLD PREMIERE at SilverCity!

In closing Haggis notes that "We have a great need for unique voices in this business. I look forward to the next wave of great film makers hailing from Northern Ontario". 

The film premiered at Cineplex Cinemas on September 23rd, 2006.
