It’s been a strange few days

In two hours it transformed from clear and beautiful into a weird, apocalyptic little world overrun with smoke. I came out nauseated and wheezy.

The next day was evacuation day, as friends everywhere packed up what they could and drove north or south to safety (it almost didn’t matter to where; there was fire everywhere). I spent a day with a family whose house had burned to the ground – it was all-too-real when it was shown on the news. The next day I relocated to a friend’s parents’ house.

All along, Boomer and Rover were my travel buddies. Cats suck at traveling, but Boomer was a popular boy.

People really united in compassion and an urge to kick the crap out of the problem that was bullying us all. Considering the scale of the crisis, it’s no wonder that people rallied singularly against this very real threat.
