Poor Benny plays old-time string band music with Clayton Schanilec, fiddle, Corey Mohan, banjo and Dave Furniss on guitar. The Poor Benny repertoire includes traditional fiddle tunes, vocal numbers from such legendary performers as Uncle Dave Macon, Charlie Poole, and Clarence Ashley, as well as traditional percussive dance. Performances Poor Benny stage shows feature string band music ranging from jug band standards to foot-stomping breakdowns. Expect riveting traditional dance numbers including Appalachian clogging, English wooden shoe, hambone, and more. Square Dances Corey Mohan, one of the Mid-West’s top callers, will lead experts and neo-feet alike through traditional square, circle, and contra dances. All dances are taught. Clayton and Dave provide the music. Workshops Poor Benny members are experienced teachers of old-time fiddle, banjo, and guitar as well as traditional step- dance styles, play party games and hambone for adults and children.
