Laura’s World
So, it’s about time I had my own web page, eh? Well, I am finally getting with the times, with the help of my new Macintosh! I feel like a whole new woman - a new laptop and a new web site. I’m so excited.
I’m sitting here on a cold, blustery, Texas winter evening, with my Christmas tree lit up with lovely soft white lights, and my first fire in my fireplace crackling and popping. Life is good. So down to the details...
I am a natural sponge (and a little irregular around the edges). I live to soak in new experiences. I love new information, new sights and smells, and I love to learn new skills. Traveling is one way to see new things. I work so that I can travel. My absolutely most favorite thing is to be somewhere I have never been before.
During 2007 I visited one of my “life list” destinations: the Galapagos Islands, with my dad. I also traveled to Guatemala with my Aunt and Uncle.
In addition to traveling, I have discovered new experiences close to home: team roping and horse riding. I have started to photograph some of the ropings I have attended. The photos are a bit rough, but I’m getting into the swing of it and feeling more comfortable shooting in low light.
This site is a work in progress, but I’m excited about sharing a little bit of my life with you and keeping you up to date on what I find exciting!
welcome to the world as seen through my eyes
When I am traveling and I see something that attracts my eye, I focus on the essence of what makes that scene; whether it is the juxtaposition of two flowers mirroring each other in color and angle, symmetry in nature, patterns or texture. In my photographs I work to eliminate all unnecessary elements in order to distill the image down to the scenes basic elements.
