Biography

Born in Pekin, Illinois in 1947, Larry began his career at
fifteen as a disc jockey on WIRL radio in near-by Peoria.
Along with Top 40 hits of the day like "My Boyfriend’s
Back," “Under the Boardwalk," and "She Loves You,"
Larry's listeners were treated to his vast repertoire of ori-
ginal characters and celebrity impressions.

Five years later, in 1968, he became the evening person-
ality at WOWO, a 50,000 watt giant in Fort Wayne, Indi-
ana, with listeners in 15 states.

Next stop: Cleveland, where Larry hosted the coveted
"afternoon drive-time" slot at NBC’s WKYC from 1970
to 1973.

Larry's next move was not only to another city, but ano-
ther music genre as well. In 1973 he took over the morn-
ing show at WJJD, Chicago, one of the nation's leading
Country Music radio stations.

One year later, Larry got a call from Don Imus, who had

admired his talent when they worked at competing sta-
tions in Cleveland, inviting him to join the cast of
"IMUS IN THE MORNING," on New York’s WNBC.

For the next 35 years, Imus listeners delighted to conver-
sations with Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger, Jack Nich-
olsen, and scores of others, unaware that they were being
entertained by Larry Kenney.

One final re-location: to America's leading Country radio
station, WHN in New York. During his four-year tenure,
Larry twice earned Billboard Magazine's coveted "Radio
Personality of the Year" Award. And for the first time, his
fans could match the face to the voice; from 1976-79, he
hosted the Television Game Show "Bowling for Dollars."

Larry and his wife Carol live in Connecticut. Daughter
Kerri Kenney-Silver lives in California with her son,
Kai, and husband, Steve Silver. Daughter Ashley O’Marra
lives in Connecticut with her son, Bonham, and husband
John. Son Tanner is a student at New York University.
