Frequently Asked Questions About Your
Library Media Center
Q: What resources does the library media center have?
A: Over 15,000 items (including books, magazines, audiobooks, etc.)
A: Daily Cincinnati Enquirer.
A: 20 computers for students to use independently or with a class.
A: 6 online library catalog computers (OPACs) for students to use
when they need to find a book in one of the Finneytown libraries.
A: A coin-operated copy machine.
A: Teacher resources, including books, equipment, videos, DVDs,
books on tape, and books on CD.

Q: What do I need to know about checking something out?
A: MS--You are limited to checking out 3 items at one time; you
may never have more than 5 items in total checked out.
HS--There is no limit, but you must be responsible for items that
you have checked out.
A: Reference books may be checked out for 1 night only.
A: Other books may be checked out for 3 weeks.
A: Books may be renewed twice (unless someone has a “hold” on
them). Click here to find out how to renew your books online.
A: You may ask a member of the library staff to request an “inter-
library loan” for a book that is in another Finneytown library.
A: YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CHECK OUT A BOOK
FOR SOMEONE ELSE OR TO GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A
BOOK THAT IS CHECKED OUT IN YOUR NAME!
You are still responsible for it, no matter to whom you give it.
Q: What if I return something late?
A: Reference books have a fine of 10 cents per class period,
beginning with 2nd bell. That is 60 cents per day!
A: Other books have a late fine of 5 cents per school day.
A: On weekends, holidays, snow days, and excused absences, fines
will not be charged. They will be charged for unexcused absences
(like suspensions).
A: If you have any overdue books and/or fines, we might
not let you borrow any other items until you take care of those
obligations.
A: If you lose or damage a book, you are responsible for the
replacement cost of the book.
