Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships.  If you have questions related to scholarship opportunities, you should contact their Guidance Counselor.

If you are planning on playing sports in college be sure to stop by guidance to see Ms. Bellenger to make sure you will meet the academic requirements. This information is also online at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net .


The First Freedom Student Competition is an essay contest available for 9th-12th graders. Information is available in guidance or on http://www.firstfreedom.org/education/students.html


Park University is holding an essay contest for high school seniors. The topic is to “Should the electoral college be abolished”. Grand prize is a $2000 Park University scholarship or a $1000 scholarship to the college or university of your choice. For more information, visit http://www.park.edu/democracyday/essay.aspx


The AXA Achievement Scholarship Program is a program that allows students who are involved in their community to compete for valuable scholarships. The application deadline is December 15, 2008. To learn more, visit www.axa-achievement.com .


The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 250 scholarships every year. The top 50 students chosen receive $20,000 scholarships and the remaining 200 student receive $10,000 scholarships. You may only apply online at

www.coca-colascholars.org . Deadline to apply is October 31, 2008.


The US Marine Corps NROTC offers substantial financial assistance to more than 130 top universities and colleges. Scholarships include money for almost all areas of school expenses: tuition, textbooks, fees and uniforms. More information is available in the guidance office.

Army ROTC Scholarship at Georgia Military College Scholarship Any senior with a 2.5 minimum GPA a 920 SAT or 19 ACT score may apply. For more information contact Brian Hamilton at rotc@gmc.cc.ga.us


Navy Scholarship Programs- the United States Navy offers scholarships to high caliber students. Students must meet the navy physical requirements and be in the top 10% of their high school class or meet the qualifying SAT and ACT scores. For more information or to apply go to www.nrotc.navy.mil


Gates Millennium Scholars Program- Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they:  Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian Pacific Islander American** or Hispanic American Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States  Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED  Scholarship applications must be submitted online by January 12, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. EST or the paper application postmarked on or before January 12, 2009. for more information visit www.gmsp.org
