John flies the “Tony the Tiger” Balloon

One of the highlights of my 9+ years in ballooning was flying the “Tony” balloon for Scott Spencer at the Grand Geneva the past two nights.

Scott is a corporate pilot flying “Tony the Tiger” for Kelloggs and “Mickey” for Disney.  These are two of the highest profile corporate pilot jobs in the country.

Scott called me the day before he arrived in town to line up local crew for tethering Tony at a gathering of Kellogg’s executives at The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa.  The Lake Geneva Balloon Company and our Easy Wind Balloon Team has frequently been called upon to crew for such corporate balloons as the Brooks and Dunn Balloon, the AOL Balloon and the Allstate Balloon.

Over the years, we’ve developed a great reputation helping these pilots with logistical support in our local area.  This is the first time that a pilot has put me on the burners and asked me to “fly the balloon”.

I piloted Tony each of the last two nights for over an hour each time, while Scott was able to promote his program with the executives of Kelloggs Corporation.

I was even able to bring my wife and our 8-year old daughter Jenna along for the ride.  My daughter was thrilled to get aboard such a popular and fun balloon.
