I spent the past week with my Boy Scout Troop 381 near Antigo, WI. I am the Scoutmaster of Troop 381 (from L to R: John C. Trione, Doug Hughes, Ralph Holst and Jim Gearhart). Summer camp for boys is wonderful experience and I highly recommend Boy Scouts. There is nothing like getting a way from civilization for a week and slowing life down a little bit.
As a small business owner, I work a lot of hours. Some of those hours are crazy times with long work days and then periods of slow activity.
One of the blessings of being a small business owner is that I can plan for time off and I make sure I take it. Taking a week off during the summer recharges my batteries for flying balloons and coming back eager to serve my guests.
A second blessing of small business ownership is getting to decide where in the community you want your business to give back. We’ve chosen Scouting.
The Lake Geneva Balloon Company donates hundreds of dollars in support and “in kind” contributions to not only my Boy Scout Troop, but others in our area.
I appreciate the patience all of my guests have had with the office being closed this week while I spent time with my guys. I also appreciate your patience in allowing me to use this week and not scheduling rides for the week I was at camp.
I hope each of you find positive ways to give back something to your community. We’ve found a way that we’re truly proud to share and it feels great!
