“Hola hola hola, este es whiskey tres quebec alpha desde Tiki Raya en Honduras...”

Okay, here’s my amateur radio site. It’s finally getting a facelift after five years of static boredom. I’ll promise to change this opening page photo from time-to-time, and I’ll choose something to reflect what’s going on.

As I write this, I’m preparing for my fifth year as a radio operator/engineer for the International Health Service. Each year in February we deploy ten to twelve medical-dental and surgery teams to remote villages. There are no roads, no plumbing, no electricity... nothing we call infrastructure, unless we bring it. The logistics and environment are truly like a major disaster recovery operation, and we often deal with life-or-death situations. The communications task is challenging. We routinely use HF/NVIS voice and Winlink 2000 radio email to handle the load. There is no better practice for emergency communications back home. And the Salva Vida is real good down there.
