These sculptures look at familiar cultural institutions, used by politically corrupt regimes to do their bidding. These social pillars readily become politically manipulated instruments, controlling and misinforming the general public, while exploiting and promoting the private agenda of those in power. I have chosen to use the internal combustion engine as the common visual metaphor for these civil abuses, because in our celebrated democracy, we have come to realize that our col-lective voices are barely heard over the din of gasoline engines at work, making frightful progress.
