I walked for about a mile before heading into the office this morning. Passed by the new Newseum which is opening next week. Always nice to add a museum space to the ‘hood! I think it’ll be pretty expensive to get into but I’m sure I’ll ante up a few times. But I won’t be there on opening day when it’s free – that many people just unnerve me these days. And I’m saving up my strength for the inaugural ceremony next January.
The thing I love the most about the exterior of the building is the multi-story façade with the first amendment on it. It’s just fantastic to have those words CARVED IN STONE between the Capitol and the White House.
The Canadian embassy is right next door and their “welcome neighbor” banner cracked me up. Yeah…that’s right…this is an exciting block because there are CANADIANS on it. C’mon, eh.
