Artist Information Biography Special Recognitions: 2006, 2007 & 2008 Omaha Entertainment Award Nominees. Winners of the 2007 Fremont Battle of the Bands. The Side Effects were invited by special invitation to occupy Studio C at the Bemis Contemporary Arts Center because exceptional talent deserves to be supported. The Side Effects are only the third music focus group to be offered a space at the Bemis Center. Band History: The band formed in May of 2005. They got together through a youth artist program called BluesEd. Since 2005 The Side Effects (TSE) have worked hard and it has paid off. TSE were spotted performing at one of the Playing with Fire concerts by a Canadian promoter. The promoter invited TSE to Canada to perform at the Southside Shuffle Festival. The band performs regularly in the Omaha Community. Besides opening for major national artists, they have also opened for some of the best local talent in the Omaha area. Many of the local artists have become their mentors. Community Service: The Side Effects have tried to give back to the community that has embraced them by performing at benefits for children, nursing homes, Thanksgrooving Food Bank benefit, Omaha Public Library, Katrina hurricane relief, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Benefit and spreading the blues in local area schools.
