that women are struggling to recast for themselves, the extent to which they are reproducing this role, and how their beliefs expand or limit the way they mother and the way they perceive themselves as women and individuals. Kristin also identifies the subconscious beliefs that perpetuate this production, reproduction and reinvention, exposing the way these beliefs are the very foundation and fuel for the experience that women are creating.
While the lens of Re:producing Motherhood is American motherhood, its greater purpose is to illustrate the way in which human belief engenders creation. To create differently, we must believe differently. To believe differently, we must make conscious and release those beliefs that are neither aligned nor truly our own. In this way we begin, on an individual basis, to create the experiences that are aligned with who we really are—regardless of others’ expectations or conventions. What we replace these beliefs with, what we create from here, demonstrates the uniqueness and power of individual choice.
