Social support meets substance abuse in hand-to-hand combat. And the winner is?

Welcome to the Hard Luck Cafe centers around the staff and patrons of the Hard Luck Cafe, a friendly place run by recovering alcoholics Joe and Mimi, who help others regain their lives.  Its two female protaganists, Anne and Cynthia, share the journey as Cynthia spirals down to full-blown alcoholism and back, while Anne hangs on for the bumpy ride.

Those who fight addiction know both the struggle and the joy and humor of recovery. Supportive interactions and shared experiences are important to the process. Through the changing trajectory of a lifelong friendship between two women, Welcome to the Hard Luck Café celebrates the roles of friendship, social support and personal commitment in overcoming addiction.
