I began my Pilates career as a Professional Ballet Dancer. For over 20 years I have studied placement, technique, body awareness, alignment and discipline. I rehearsed and performed endless hours so that movement became a part of everything I did. To my surprise, I was injured halfway through my career and underwent foot surgery. Without thinking twice I knew Pilates was the answer to my problem and from then on practiced my Pilates exercises for months while I could not stand or take class. I continued with my career here in San Diego and became the Principal Ballet Dancer for the San Diego Ballet for 7 years. With my teaching background in ballet I was hired to teach Pilates in Del Mar for Julian Littleford, After teaching for several years I needed to add to my knowledge and completed the Body Arts and Science International Certification program taught by Rael Isocowitz in Costa Mesa, CA. His program focused on Anatomy and Physiology of the body in relation to the exercises and taught me a great deal more about the body.
From that moment on, I felt I could take on my own Pilates career and I began working individually with clients all over San Diego. In 2003, with the help of my husband, Pablo, we opened up the Kore Pilates Studio in La Jolla, choosing an incredible location overlooking La Jolla Cove to add to the Pilates experience as a whole. Throughout this time I continued to study alternative methods of Pilates technique including Stott and Physical Mind, as well as continuing my new love for anatomy. I realized that I wanted teachers in my studio to know “more”. Within the first year of Kore Pilates Studio, I added the Kore Pilates Certification
Program. We have since produced teachers of excellent standards with a knowledge of the body and relations to Pilates Teachings I have yet to find anywhere else.
I feel that this endeavor is never ending. The more sophisticated medicine gets, the more we can “see” what is happening with the body. I have since completed many wonderful hours of continuing education with Lolita San Miguel, Madeline Black, Jillian Hessell, Irene Dowd, Elizabeth Larkam, Marie Jose Blom-Lawerence, Brent Anderson, and Rael Isocowitz. Each teacher brings an individual approach to the Pilates work and I continue to add these experiences to our own program.
Together through knowledge we will continue to grow and educate others to have the ability to make movement part of everyone’s life.
Our certification program is PMA recognized and I am also PMA Certified
