Experts in components necessary for a well-balanced education

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord....to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11.
And what a wonderful plan it has been. There have been ups and downs, but as I reflect on where I have been, what God has allowed me to do, and how my life has evolved, I can only give thanks to God for allowing me the opportunities I have had.

As I have grown older I realize that one of the most important things in life is relationships. Family, friends, or co workers....all play an important role in my life. I have been blessed with two wonderful children and a husband. Their support and love are more than anyone deserves. My father used to say if you had one good friend that would stand by you, you were blessed. I have several friends, so I am abundantly blessed.

Life’s calling: education
All areas of education, but mostly secondary science, specifically physics (an area I never thought I would say I would enjoy....I wanted to burn my college physics book).

I have taught for over 25 years in both public and private schools. I have taught all secondary grade levels, supervised (as curriculum coordinator) for grades PK-12, as well as the university level. Subjects I have taught include: physics, physical science, biology, life science, and earth science.
During one segment of my life I was the weekday childcare director for a church. That means I was in charge of the teachers, their training, and the kids while parents had mother’s day out, sunday school, choir or any other event they felt the church needed to provide childcare. I provided for children birth through first grade.
My passion now is to help mentor teachers so they don’t make the same mistakes I did and therefore they can be more successful in the classroom. I can’t undo what has already been done, but I can equip, enable, support, and love those that are in the trenches every day in our classrooms. They are the true heroes....and get very little monetary rewards for doing so. I hope someday they will be a better teacher because of our relationship and their students will be better informed citizens and keep the love of education and science alive!!

“Teaching is like being a gardener. We prepare the soil, plant the seeds, water, and fertilize. We learn patience as we wiat and encourage the flowers to bloom. Some blooms are large and showy and some are so small you have to look closely to see them. Some have thorns, some are aromatic, some need pruning, and some need extra care. Sometimes there are droughts (days, years) and sometimes we have a garden that is absolutely stunning. Sometimes my bouquet is bigger than other times, but there is always someone “blooming”. And hopefully someday the Master gardener will say ‘well done’.” quote from KJ Matsler, 2002 Lamar teacher of the year
