Presenting the Word in the Multimedia Age
Normally, a church has an organist, choir, and pianist to accompanied a traditional worship service. The First Baptist Church of Mt. Healthy has Larry Klug as their Multimedia Specialist. Not only does Larry displays the hymns and announcements, but often accepts challenges from the Director of Music, Harry Robinson to produce unique multimedia specials to further enhance the worship service.
“This is quite an opportunity to express my faith while utilizing my multimedia talents. This venue is truly a proving ground to explore various techniques to provide a meaningful worship experience. All of my efforts in each project is a Labor of Love.”
During the worship service, Larry controls the lighting with a PC running HORIZON lighting control software, another PC running Microsoft PowerPoint to display the hymns, and an Apple G4 17” Powerbook for implementing multimedia specials through a unique slideshow software program called FotoMagico. The Powerbook and PC are connected through two multimedia projectors. The sound is controlled from a mixing board by Sam Collier and Kelly Dillard.
Larry provided his multimedia artistry for the church’s passion plays as well as various multimedia specials throughout the year. He also produced a series of multimedia specials that was presented during the church’s 50th anniversary event.
