In 1988, After Graduating from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interior Design, Kristin King began her professional career in Manhattan, New York. Her first position as an Interior Designer was with the Design Gallery, a high end residential and commercial design firm. She then went on to accept a position at SEE (Spatial Environmental Elements), an interiors and architectural firm, where she designed both residential and commercial spaces.
To broaden her design palate, Kristin left SEE and took an executive position with Mikasa International, focusing on retail store design and visual merchandising. She was a vital part of the new store openings and renovations team.
In 1994, Kristin began working for Laura Ashley Home, where she implemented and managed an in-house interior design business for residential and commercial clients in Manhattan, Long Island and Westchester, New York. Her projects ranged from television executives offices at Rockefeller Center to ocean front estates in the Hamptons.
In 1998 while still living in Manhattan, Kristin founded her own design firm KKID (Kristin King Interior Design). In 2000, Kristin relocated to Los Angeles and while continuing to grow KKID, she took a two year position as Director of Design at Interior Spaces Inc. in Santa Monica where her modern approach was incorporated into both commercial and residential projects for the firm.
KKID continues to expand from its clientele of ultra-high end residences, film and music production companies into the field of Hospitality design.
In 2006, Kristin King added Adjunct Professor in the Interior Architecture Department at Woodbury University to her resume. She currently teaches two courses at the University; Space Planning and Building Systems & Codes.
Kristin is currently President of the Los Angeles chapter of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) she is also NCIDQ qualified and very active with NCIDQ promoting continuing education and testing. Kristin is also an active member of IDCC (Interior Design Coalition of California.)
In addition to being an Interior Designer, Kristin is also an award winning Photo Stylist.
