“Fuel”
5-1/2 x 16” oil on masonite

I had a long day at work today, with a lot of running around afterward. I came home thinking I'm too tired to start a painting. But the truth is, picking up my brush and just doing it revives me. And I had this odd shaped board that was just perfect.

I want you to know that this painting is more textured than my usual.
The gesso was painted on loosely, and you'll see those subtle ridges underneath the brush strokes.  It is loose, painterly and imperfect - nothing like my friend
Neil Hollingsworth's reflective masterpieces.

But my aim, with these daily pieces,
is to paint things I've never painted before.

This pretty still-life is the early, early room service that fueled me up for my second day in New York City.
