“Cruising the Hudson”

These small paintings allow me to try things I’ve not done before - like landscapes and skies and night scenes. This particular evening in New York City was so beautiful - a perfect night for a 2-hour harbor cruise on the Hudson and East River.
Just as we were approaching the Statue of Liberty, the Indian-summer sky lit up the shape of Ellis Island in the distance and every color in the rainbow was in sight - from the cobalt-blues to aquas to peaches and reds to yellows and to the purples in the choppy waters.
