“Central Park West”
8 x 10” oil on masonite

I decided to do a larger-than-usual piece today for a couple of reasons.  I’m pretty sure this marks the end of my New York City series - because after I left the NY Stock Exchange, I took the double-decker bus to Chinatown, where I got very lost. Admitting my defeat, I got a
cab back to my hotel - where
the elevator was still out of
order and climbed seven
flights of stairs, only to
collapse in my bed from a long
morning. Keep in mind,
I was required to wear long
sleeves and pants to the
Stock Exchange and it was
about 102 degrees by mid-
day.

A bit later....I decided to clean
up, pack up and head to the
airport - and asked the cab
driver to take me on the
west side of Central Park.
I don’t know exactly where
this was, probably midway
because the trees go on as
far as the eyes can see.

The other reason I chose to
go a little larger was that
I’ve been concentrating on
small paintings using small
brushes - and I wanted to
challenge myself by using a wide, flat brush - seeing how much control I could maintain - and a way of practicing for the three larger pieces for my commission.

Speaking of which, I’ll have to bow out of the small, daily painting routine for about a week - to make some serious progress on those commissions as well as a few paintings for the galleries. I’m thinking, when I resume, I’ll take you through my 3-day trip to Chicago.
