I really just felt like painting this woman, all by herself, no placement, nothing else.....just her. I’m interested in her skin - her odd shape - all of it.
From time to time, I like to do figure studies of someone who may be part of a larger piece. It helps me really get a sense of what the rest of it should be -
what tones should surround the person because of their particular skin-tone or clothing. This study just really strikes me. The woman is simply natural and beautiful all by herself.
