I came upon an exhibition at the national gallery of art,

in washington, dc - of gilbert stuart’s paintings of

many presidents, first ladies & various other diplomats.

the work was stunning, especially placed against a

federal blue wall.  I couldn’t be sure who’s portrait is

in this painting - my best guess is abigail adams, as stuart painted

her a dozen times at different ages.
