“OK” @ SAN ONOFRE

The State Park Service has set aside a designated area for paddle surfing at the south end of the Surfing Beach. Two signs mounted on poles anchored to a drainage out-fall, mark the northern boundary of the paddle surfing area. The top sign is the letter "K"...the bottom the letter "O". The signs are aligned such that when a paddler is on the water and the letters read "OK", that signifies that the paddler is within the paddle surfing area. If the sign reads "KO", a paddler is considered out of bounds. Failure to stay within the designated area can result in expulsion from the park and/or a citation and fine issued by a California State Ranger.

Self-policing is essential to preserving the privilege of launching paddle craft at

San Onofre.
